The Provincial Government of Cagayan through the Cagayan Tourism Office conducted a 7-day Community Guides Training last April 2-8, 2023 at the Session Hall of the Calayan Municipal Office.

The training was led by Cagayan Tourism Office headed by En.P. Jenifer Junio-Baquiran, and with Mr. Romano De Castro Del Rosario as the Department of Tourism-accredited resource speaker. The weeklong training was participated by 30 tour guides of Calayan Island.

 

Mr. Del Rosario shared his expertise in tour guiding with the Filipino Brand of Service Excellence integrated into the course. The Community Guides Training also included key components such as the Cagayan Tourism Situationer, commentary development, and graded mock tour. A graduation ceremony was held to celebrate all those who passed the rigorous training. Councilor Josephus Jericho Llopis was in attendance to honor the accomplishments of Calayan’s first batch of trained tour guides.

 

The training highlights the preparation of tour guides to become Calayan’s front liners in tourism. The initiative is hinged on Hon. Gov. Manuel N. Mamba’s goal to bolster the tourism industry in Calayan, making it Cagayan’s flagship destination by 2025.
