#CagayanTouREADsm | Orientation on the Accreditation of Primary and Secondary Tourism Enterprises

The Provincial Government of Cagayan, through the Cagayan Tourism Office, in collaboration with the Department of Tourism Region II, conducted an Orientation on Accreditation for Primary and Secondary Tourism Enterprises on July 16, 2025, at Gasat Hall, Capitol Compound, Tuguegarao City, Cagayan. The event was attended by several Municipal Tourism Officers from the Local Government Units of Gonzaga, Santa Ana, Aparri, and Tuguegarao City, which are the towns and cities with the most primary tourism enterprises in Cagayan, as well as the Cagayan Tourism staff.
The activity was led by EnP. Jenifer Junio-Baquiran, Provincial Tourism Officer of Cagayan, and Mr. Thomas Santos, Chief Tourism Operations Officer, who was joined by his esteemed delegation from the Department of Tourism Region II. The Provincial Tourism Officer emphasized the importance of accrediting tourism enterprises as mandated by RA 9593, or the Tourism Act of 2009, which requires LGUs to comply with the law and ensure their primary tourism enterprises are accredited. She acknowledged the significant challenge for the province to achieve the necessary standards in tourism accreditation and encouraged everyone to take part in this effort, not only to increase tourist and visitor arrivals but also to strengthen tourism stakeholders and the community.
Speakers from the Department of Tourism Region II outlined the significance of accreditation, detailing the steps involved in the process, primary requirements, and other considerations. The event also featured workshops, discussions on issues and challenges, and the formulation of an action plan for the accreditation of different tourism enterprises in Cagayan.
