The awards were the result of the staunch support of Governor Manuel Mamba towards tourism as one of the economic drivers in the province. The recognition are proofs of the hard work that the Cagayan Tourism has put in propelling the tourism industry in the province. The PGC was also recognized as one of the regional nominees in the prestigious Philippine Tourism Awards for Destination of the Year – Province level.

The Provincial Tourism Officer, EnP. Jenifer Junio – Baquiran, was represented by Miss Sally B. Vitug, Supervising Tourism Operations Officer. The latter received the trophies and certificates on behalf of the PGC – CTO. In attendance also were Miss Honey Carmona, Miss Josephine Mapagu, Miss Aimee Gannaban, Miss Generina Bayubay, and Mr. Modesto Baldiray of the Cagayan Tourism Office.
