The Provincial Government of Cagayan through the Cagayan Provincial Information Office successfully concluded a two-day drone flight training last January 30-31, 2024, at the Commissary Building, Capitol Compounds. The activity is joined by members of the Philippine Army (PA), Philippine National Police (PNP), Marines, other Uniformed Personnels, Rescuers, and employees from the different departments of the Provincial Capitol of Cagayan.
The training was conducted by a group of experts in the field of drone technology, Mr. Nathaniel S. Ablaza the owner of SkyPixel18 Aerial Photography Services, DJI Philippines CEO John Garrick Hung, and Licensed Drone Pilots Mitchell Andre M. Sy, and Aimee Malabanan.
The first day of the training was dedicated to the theoretical aspects of drone operation. The trainers provided a comprehensive overview of the different types of drones available in the market, their features, and their applications. They also talked about Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) Rules and Regulations, Flight Limitations and Restrictions, Basic Drone Maintenance, and the Parts of the Drone.
During the second day of the training, attendees were given hands-on experience in operating the drone. The trainers demonstrated how to fly a drone manually and how to use pre-programmed flight plans. They also taught how to navigate the drone through different obstacles and how to use the advanced features of the drone, such as the camera, thermal sensors, and the GPS.
Along with the said training, the first Cagayan Drone Pilot Association was formed. Mr. Francis Jorque of CPIO was inaugurated as President; Vice President Mr. Arnold Azucena, head of the Task Force Lingkod Cagayan-Quick Response Team (TFLC-QRT); Secretary, Ms. Cherry Ann Robles of the Department of Public Works and Highways; Ms. Jamae Villafuerte of the Cagayan Tourism Office (CTO) as the Treasurer; Auditor, Ms. Digna Bingayen of CPIO; and Press Release Officer, Mr. Bonifacio Espirito of the TFLC-QRT.
